Coinbase revealed Tuesday that it's introducing a new feature that will allow NFT owners to view their collections instantly in their web browsers.

Coinbase portrays the feature as part of its efforts to improve user experience for the extensive virtual world.

The browser tool is a distinct service from the firm's main exchange platform. Similar to its popular rival MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet is crafted to allow users access DeFi applications, NFTs and other elements of the new world of Web3.

Both Coinbase and MetaMask Wallet started as mobile apps but developed to be accessible as browser extensions.

Coinbase executive Sid Coelho-Prabhu stated in a blog post that the new NFT viewing tool will be launched to Wallet soon, and urged users to update their Chrome browser settings to integrate it.

Coelho-Prabhu wrote, "Soon, users will be able to view their NFT collection from within the Coinbase Wallet extension, easily see their NFTs' attributes, and easily access popular NFT marketplaces like OpenSea."

Coinbase made the browser announcement in preparation for the launch of an NFT marketplace to rival industry leader OpenSea, by the end of this year. The company has yet to launch the marketplace, which it says will have social media features.

Coelho-Prabhu also hinted at another Wallet feature that assists users to monitor the rising number of platforms on which they can store their assets. He wrote, "Coinbase Wallet will now show your token balances across all supported networks in one simple, unified view. In addition to assets held on the Ethereum mainnet, Wallet will display tokens on the Arbitrum, Avalanche, Binance Smart Chain, Fantom, Optimism, Polygon, and xdai networks."

The wallet is the first major ETH wallet to support NFTs in a browser extension, according to the company.
