Eminem Acquires Ethereum Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT for over $400K

Eminem has purchased an ape created in his likeness. The Detroit rapper has become a member of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC).

The renowned rapper purchased one of the Ethereum-based Apes for $452,000 (roughly 123.45 Ethereum) on Thursday and has since made it his Twitter profile photo.

For the time being, Eminem appears to have amassed roughly 15 NFTs on OpenSea under the moniker Shady Holdings.

With over 220 million records sold worldwide, the Grammy Award-winning performer is one of the best-selling musicians of all time.

Eminem is also the first rapper to have won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for the song "Lose Yourself," which was included in the film "8 Mile." In addition, the musician has received 15 Grammy Awards and numerous American Music Awards.

Another BAYC member GeeGazza announced on Thursday about the sale of the blonde ape to Eminem, saying that the milestone was remarking and "madness." He said, "I'm living in a simulation." However, Eminem is yet to comment publicly on the transaction.

GeeGazza had been anticipating selling his ape to the celebrity for a while. For instance, in November 2021, he stated, "I still think Eminem is destined to buy my Bored Ape one day." He added, "You don't understand how long I've been manifesting that Eminem buys my ape."

Six, a digital agency, verified the transaction on Twitter, saying that they helped secure the BAYC NFT, which has since been dubbed "EminApe." Surprisingly, the monkey looks a lot like the rapper. Six has previously collaborated on projects with electronic artists Galantis and Tycho, as well as the rap group Wu-Tang Clan.

With the new EminApe, the artist has officially joined the second-most popular NFT project on OpenSea. BAYC has exchanged $43 million in secondary trades so far, or 11,705.97 ETH. The current floor price is $220,000 (60 ETH). Eminem joins a long list of other world-class performers who have already aped, including NBA player Stephen Curry and talk show presenter Jimmy Fallon.

BAYC has since eclipsed CryptoPunks in terms of OpenSea rating and floor price, which is a huge accomplishment for a project that only launched in April 2021.
